How does Jersonal help you live a good life?
The Jersonal Team • 2024-02-07
Everyone knows the feeling of sometimes being dissatisfied with their own life. We feel as if nothing is happening, as if others don't understand us and as if we simply don't have what we long for.
When you scroll through your social media feed, you see others who seem to have achieved everything: they are financially successful, slim, athletic and popular.
This is the standard we set for ourselves: Your job must fulfill you 100%, you must look good, after work you do sports every day, meet up with your friends and live in a happy relationship. The finances take care of themselves; it seems so easy that the others don't even talk about it.
Apparently you just have to work hard enough on yourself, after all, there are offers for further training alongside your job, apps for fitness programs with yoga, bodyweight training, dumbbell training, running training, there are diet guides for the right diet (vegan, vegetarian, high in fiber, paleo, low-carb, low-fat or low-sugar), health recommendations and lots of financial tips with which money is neither a problem now nor in the future. Then there are also the guides that look at the inner and spiritual. Mindfulness apps, meditation, etc. What about family and relationships with other people? Aren't they also very important?
In addition, there are dependencies between the areas. They make it even more difficult to do the right thing. Salmon tartare with steak and avocado is healthy, but puts a strain on your wallet and the environment. Putting your foot down at work, investing in stocks and real estate and building up additional income is the right thing to do financially, but might you be missing out on your children's first steps?
It's no wonder that at some point you lose track and no longer know how to bring all the offers together. And then there's time: If you want to follow all the advice, you need a 48-hour day - if that's enough...
Principles for a better life
When we set out to answer this question a few years ago, we were surprised that there was no universal guide to the simple question of how to live a good, successful, contented life. Scientists have been grappling with the question of what it takes to lead a contented life for a few decades. It is clear that there cannot be a one-size-fits-all recipe. You can still find your own path if you know where you stand and what matters.
A good solution for your life is based on the following basic principles:
-
The goal should be a contented life (the expression happy is often used, but it makes sense to differentiate contentment from the luck you have when you win the lottery or get 5 sixes in the game)
-
We look at life as a whole and ensure that the long-term consequences of your decisions are also taken into account
-
Only what can be scientifically proven will be taken into account - because that is more than enough and you don't have time for the rest!
-
All important areas of life should be examined. But you also have to weigh them up against each other and prioritize them. If you don't approach the topics one by one and consider which ones are important, you run the risk of neglecting an important area of life.
The four areas of life
In order to get to grips with the complexity of life, we divide the important concerns of life into 4 areas:
-
Health
-
Wealth
-
Social
-
Self
In each of the areas there is potential for more satisfaction in your life.

Health
Health here includes both physical and psychological well-being. According to the results of the socio-economic panel, health has one of the greatest influences on our lives ➡️📖. Nothing destroys the quality of life as lastingly as persistent pain. Due to living conditions, it is now possible to say relatively precisely which measures can be used to increase your expected years of life.
Wealth
Our financial situation determines our lives, whether we like it or not. Many have already heard of scientific studies that money does not make you happier, at least above a certain level ➡️📖. That's not entirely true ➡️📖, but even if you ask yourself how much more money you really need to be happy, you'll agree that the lack of money is can be a big problem. Hardly any area can be improved as much as your personal finances with just a few measures and often without sacrifice.
Social: Family, friends & society
An important area in life is our social interactions. We haven't known this since a large-scale Harvard study over 80 years identified the ability to build good relationships with other people as a major driver of life satisfaction ➡️📖. You will feel improvements in this area directly and immediately.
Your Self
The fourth and final area concerns ourselves. This is where we find our mental health, what motivates us, what fulfills us, what we believe in, but also our abilities, feelings and character traits such as a positive attitude, integrity or calmness. The driving force behind your personal change lies within you!
What do I do with it?
Maybe you have when you look atour mapWith the 4 areas, your own thoughts about what could make your life better. Nevertheless, it is not easy to get an overview of all areas immediately. Can you classify in which area you have the highest probability of improving your life satisfaction in the long term?
In your everyday life you will meet people who meticulously strive for the optimum in some areas, while other areas are almost unused. Maybe you also know the type of workaholic who rarely sees his friends and relatives and doesn't attend his mother's birthday because of an important business trip.
But it is also common for people who are carefree to plan their finances in the moment and have the feeling that the money will be there when they need it. Above all, the financial situation in old age is difficult to keep an eye on. In Germany and the USA, the rate of pensioners at risk of poverty in old age is equally 16% (➡️📖 etcnd ➡️📖), d.h. jeder sechste ist betroffen. There are many other more or less pronounced archetypes. One thing is particularly important at this point: one of the four areas that is out of balance is enough to completely throw an actually good life out of balance.
There are three perspectives that must be kept in balance:
-
The balance between different areas: Should I spend time with the family or go to the gym?
-
The balance between my current interests and my future self: Should I just have fun now or spend more time preparing for old age?
-
The balance between different activities: Should I do endurance or strength training for my health?

The good thing is that you are in control of your own destiny. At Jersonal we provide you with the latest scientific knowledge. We help you find the right topics for you and your life in the jungle of offers. You decide for yourself at any time what you want to work on. We help you not only find the right measures, but also turn them into the right habits for your life. To do this, you follow 4 steps:
1. Diagnosis and transparency: Find out where you stand!
Maybe you're financially successful and have a great family, but you're neglecting your health and risk slipping into depression. With simple, scientifically based tests, you can find out, for example, how old you are getting with your lifestyle and which methods you can use to extend your lifespan. You can check whether your money will last in old age and much more.
2. Set goals: Based on the diagnosis, prioritize what you want to start with first and set clear, measurable and realistic goals for yourself!
The diagnosis leads to many approaches to improving your life. Maybe you want to exercise more and lose weight. Setting the right goal is an art in itself. Goals should be measurable and achievable. Simply formulating it with verbs that describe your own actions as specifically as possible makes it more likely that you will be successful in the end. For example, the goal “Do more exercise” delivers measurably worse results than the following goal: “I will go running for 1 hour on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.” We will help you formulate your goals in such a way that you are highly likely to achieve them.
3. Activities: Get active and turn your goals into reality through action! Develop new habits that will steer your life in the right direction!
The hardest part is putting it into reality. Studies show that motivation alone is not enough. It is simply wrong that millions of overweight people just don't want to lose enough weight. Motivation only lasts us for a few days or weeks. The key to lasting change is developing habits. Some of them can be incorporated into your everyday life with simple tricks. For example, if you want to take more steps a day, you might be able to get off one stop earlier on your way to work and soon get into the habit of doing more exercise a day. We give you tools with which you can develop sustainable habits and improve your life step by step.
4. Messen und verbessern: Miss Deinen Fortschritt und mach Dir klar, was Du erreichst bzw. warum Du auf der Stelle trittst!
Only when we measure things can we determine whether something has improved. Monitoring success is an important step on your way to a better life.
For example, did you want to lose weight and achieve this through more exercise? We measure the number of steps you take every day and how successful you are at staying on track. Our artificial intelligence-based model helps you adapt your actions so that you have the highest probability of success.
Maybe just moving more isn't enough to achieve your goals. Maybe you need to skip the coffee and croissant on the way to work to get you closer to your weight goal. As a pleasant side effect, you will save an additional 6 euros every day - which sounds like little, but will increase your savings by 145,000 euros when you retire as a 35-year-old.
Maybe you've taken on too much and aren't able to spend 3 hours in the gym every week as planned. Then together we will find a measure that may have a smaller effect, but suits you and your life better.
